Category I Vibration Analysis Training is a 4-day ISO 18436-2 compliant certification course that prepares maintenance technicians, reliability engineers, and plant personnel to diagnose mechanical faults in industrial rotating equipment. Category I Vibration Analysis Training covers FFT spectrum analysis, bearing defect identification, machine fault diagnosis, and route-based data collection—taught by Dr. Karl Hoffower, the only ASNT PdM Level III instructor in the U.S. with dual endorsement in Vibration Analysis and Thermal/Infrared Testing. This training takes place at Failure Prevention Associates‘ Houston-area facility, the only U.S. training center featuring dynamic rotating equipment in a dedicated mill test lab, where the course delivers hands-on practice on actual machinery exhibiting real fault conditions rather than classroom simulations. Category I certification requires a 70% examination score and 6 months of field experience, with provisional certificates issued to students who pass the exam while accumulating the required experience.
